Types Of Insulation

There are a few different insulation solutions out there but every project is different. The Choice of materials depends on the structure that the project is based on, the severity of temperature range in your area, and where the insulation needs to be placed. The best way to find out what will help you keep your home or office comfortable is to have a contractor that has the experience, best materials and knowledge to guide you through all of your options.

Spray Foam

This is arguably the best insulation due it’s versatility and remains effective with thinner layers. Spray foam insulation can be placed pretty much anywhere. It is good for adding insulation to existing finished areas, irregularly shaped areas, and around obstructions. The greatest characteristic of spray foam is that it is able to bond to the materials in the structure to provide an airtight seal. No air in or out means that you are saving the most money on your heating and cooling bills.

Batt and Rolls

Batt and Rolls or Blanket insulation the most common and widely available type. It consists of flexible fibers, most commonly fiberglass. You can find Batt and Rolls made from many different materials but the most common is fiberglass. It is used mainly in unfinished walls, floors, and ceilings. Rolls come in pre-cut sizes to fit between studs, joints, and beams.

Blown-In

Blown-In insulation consists of small particles of fiber, foam, or other materials. These small particles form a material that can conform to any space without disturbing structures or finishes. It doesn’t actually bond to the structure that it is being applied to.This ability to conform makes loose-fill insulation well suited for retrofits and locations where it would be difficult to install other types of insulation.
